Spring Awakening

Happy first day of spring everyone! I am enjoying a nice little break right now, but I guess it's time for un petit update. So, first off...I got my ticket to France for this summer! I am SO excited. If you know me at all then you know how big of an understatement that is. I'll be leaving May 15th and coming home July 10th! This will probably be the longest length of time that I'll have been away from home, family and friends without any kind of visit {or the comfort of a phonecall for that matter}. In that respect it may be difficult at times, but I can handle it considering that I'll be in my homeland {that's what I like to tell myself at least}. So, there are some big things coming up dans ma vie, and I couldn't be more excited. Just a little preview of things to come...

 Amiens
 Notre Dame d'Amiens
 Amsterdam
 Brussels
 London
et Paris!

I think this summer is going down in the books for sure. If anyone has been to any of these places and has any advice on cool things to see/do, I'm all ears. Again, I hope everyone had a great first day of spring. Bring on the allergies...

A bientôt mes amis!!

Worldly Wednesday

Coucou à tous! Hello everyone!

I hope everyone has been having an excellent week so far. Things have been busy chez moi but I am finally starting to see that light at the end of the tunnel...aka le weekend. Interesting thing happened while walking in the neighborhood earlier. I heard 3 or 4 pops, and then a black SUV sped off down the street past me. I thought it was strange but didn't really give it a second thought. It turns out that there was a shooting and that car that drove past me was the suspect! Ahhh...I feel like I've been extremely lucky this afternoon. Other than that little event, nothing too exciting happened.

I'm still in the process of deciding how I want to write on this blog. I like the idea of having themed posts, but I don't want to feel restricted in what I talk about either. Guess I can sort of set my own rules.

And so Worldly Wednesday commences...

I could probably write on and on about travel and other cultures that interest me. I have had an obsession with french macarons lately, so I will start there. If you ask some native French people or do a little bit of research, you'll discover that in the world of french macarons, it's difficult to have a conversation without bringing up the famous pâtisserie qui s'appelle Ladurée. If you've never heard of this lovely little shop, you are in for a treat. Ladurée embodies that certain je ne sais quoi that is everything french. Their products are lavish, delicate, and taste heavenly (supposedly). I have never personally had anything from this pastry house, but I have had french macarons, and considering that these little heavenly morsels are what Ladurée is famous for...let's just say that Ladurée macarons will be one of my Parisian highlights this summer. Check out their website: http://www.laduree.fr/. Get ready for cuteness overload.

These creations are definitely fit for royalty. I've been dying to try to make my own. If you'd like to do the same, here's a recipe: YUMMY! Let me know how it works out. Do you have any unique recipes? Feel free to share.

Have a great night everyone!

Manic Monday

Bonjour tout le monde!

Just a little video I found. I'm pretty obsessed with this song at the moment and I think that this version is not only adorable, but she has such a great french accent. Can't help but feel happy after watching. :) I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Compare the above with the original live version by Edith Piaf below. Very different but she does it justice I think.

This is another great song. It's the first time I've seen the music video and I am in love.

Manic Monday = Music Monday...for today at least.

I hope everyone has had a great Monday!
